We bring nature closer to people through technology

We began as students with a simple idea: a smartphone app for plant identification. Our first product, FlowerChecker app, connected users with a team of botanists to identify plants from photos.

Five years into our journey, we embraced machine learning with plant.id API. This service identifies plant species from photos, offering users detailed plant information and representative images, and revolutionizing how we interact with nature.

Three years later, we expanded our focus to plant health. Leveraging machine learning, we now identify plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies from photos, providing comprehensive health insights and treatment instructions to help plants thrive.

Building on our experience with plant identification and health assessment, we took a leap into the world of entomology a year later. Insect.id API was launched, utilizing AI to identify insects from images, enriching our users' experience and understanding of the enthralling insect kingdom.

In 2023, we brought mushrooms into focus with mushroom.id, our high-accuracy, machine learning-powered identification API.
We have also released a new feature for identifying plant varieties and cultivars.

With a broad experience in plant disease detection, our next step was to focus on an area of diseases of crops where correct diagnosis can make a real difference in farmers’ lives.

We explored several diverse initiatives alongside our flagship API products. This included vegetation mapping, monitoring invasive species from drones and developing a weeder technology — a system that identifies and removes weeds using sensors mounted on a moving tractor.
