Identifying a snake—or checking whether a slithery visitor is venomous—used to require paging through field guides. Snake.name changes that. Snap a photo (or upload one) and our model compares the image against a curated database of ≈ 800 species with an overall 78 % top-1 accuracy, delivering an identification in seconds. According to our impression it is the most accurate snake identification app on the market.

Key features

  1. Instant ID & danger flag – know the species and its venom status at a glance.
  2. Offline mode on the roadmap – a fully on-device model is scheduled for January 2026.
  3. Learn as you go – each result opens a species card with size, range, fangs and fun facts.
  4. Made with herpetology pros – we partnered with the wildlife filmmakers at Living Zoology to fine-tune both images and content.
  5. It is free if you are ok with limited number of identifications; for full experience, the subscribtion is only $2 per month
